Health and Safety

Compliance with Strict Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Standards throughout all project stages.

At TurkStream safety is our top priority. We aim to design, build and operate the gas pipeline according to strict quality and safety standards.

To ensure safety at all times, TurkStream follows strict Health, Safety, Security and Environmental as well as Quality Control standards for the design, material, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the Pipeline.

From the design phase right through to pipe production and construction, we are working with experienced engineers and international specialists to ensure the TurkStream Project is realised in accordance with pipeline industry standards. Our comprehensive risk analysis and hazard identification and our detailed inspection and maintenance systems will ensure that the gas pipeline meets international safety standards during its entire lifecycle. We will use safe and proven technology, as well as state-of-the-art materials and equipment, to guarantee safe operation for several decades.

The TurkStream pipeline will start on the Russian coast near Anapa, and run through the Black Sea for nearly 230 km in Russian waters. Approximately 700 km of the pipeline will lie within the Turkish Exclusive Economic Zone

Applying rigorous safety standards

Adopting meticulous engineering and planning methods.

Using state of the art equipment and high-quality materials.

Implementing a Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) system.

Carefully monitoring construction and operation.

Inspection standards

Pipes for TurkStream are subject to a three-level quality assurance system with strictest inspection standards. Experts from pipe mills, TurkStream and independent certification companies inspect each pipe during manufacturing. At the pipe laying stage, representatives from the responsible contractor and our own inspectors — monitored by certification company experts — will check each offshore weld.

The pipes are welded to main string with high precision by automated machines

The welds are scanned with ultrasound to verify there are no defects

A coating is applied to fill the joint and provide extra protection

Our inspectors — monitored by certification company experts — will check each offshore weld
